FAQ

Where are you based?

I am based in Grez-Doiceau, in Brabant Wallon, and have delivered cakes all over Belgium.

Are you AFSCA approved?

Yes, Madame Spoons Cake Design is registered under the name of Castremanne Management SPRL with “Agence Fédérale pour la Sécurité de la Chaîne Alimentaire” (Food Safety) and follows their regulations.

Do you offer tastings?

For celebration cakes, no.

For Wedding Cakes, I offer 2 weekends each year for wedding consultations with tastings. Outside of those dates, I still offer wedding consultations but without tastings.

How much does a cake cost?

To give each cake my full attention, I only create a limited number of cakes each year. Additionally, I work solo, meaning there is a maximum number of cakes I can prepare in a week. I recommend reaching out as soon as you have selected a date to ensure my availability.

For wedding cakes. For event cakes, 2 weeks is sufficient, if my availability allows.

I require at least 1 months notice but most couples reserve their cake date as soon as their wedding date is confirmed. This secures their spot on my schedule, guaranteeing I can create their cake, especially during the peak season.

If you are unsure about the number of guests, the design, or cake details, but know you want to work with me, you can make a non-refundable deposit of 25€ for event cakes, and 100€ for wedding cakes to secure the date. Details like design, flavours and guest count cane be decided closer to the date.

How much does a cake cost?

Every Madame Spoons Cake is bespoke so there is no set cost. It really does depend on the style, the complexity of the design, the number of decorations and the flavours you choose. To have a better idea of pricing, please go to the page for your selected type of cake (wedding cake, birthday cake, cupcakes). Once I have all the information required, a detailed quote will be sent.

How do I store my cake?

Sugarpaste does not like humidity, especially humidity from a fridge, and can start to sweat and even melt in the fridge. Sugarpaste conserves the cake (it is afterall sugar), so it should not go into the fridge.

Buttercream cakes should be stored in the fridge, but we suggest you take them out of the fridge a couple of hours before eating, so that it has a chance to come to room temperature.

Do you make cakes for special diets?

Yes, on request. Please note, I work in a kitchen where nuts and other allergens are present.

Can I freeze cake?

All cakes are freshly made the week of your event, so yes, you can freeze the cake. If you have already cut open the cake, I suggest you cut the cake into individual slices, and wrap each slice well with cling film before placing into the freezer, this way you can take one piece out to defrost for when you need a sweet pick-me-up.

Do you deliver?

For small celebration cakes, these can be picked up at our cake workshop between Saturday or Sunday 9-10h30.

All 3 tiered cakes are delivered and set up at the venue by Emma, to ensure they are delivered safely and set up correctly.

I deliver all over Belgium. There is a small fee for time and travel expenses.
